Live Love Perform has had an exciting and busy summer filled with all things dance!

Dance in the Park, Meadowbank

We hosted our second block of Dance in the Park - a free community event in Dorking recreational ground, with the aim to boost energy and get Dorking moving!

We had a mixture of weather from extreme heat and having to relocate to the shade to unfortunately, being rained off!

We covered dance styles such as street dance and musical theatre, working on routines to songs from ‘Trolls’, ‘Sing’, and ‘Matilda the Musical’.

We really enjoyed dancing with everyone and can’t wait to return for more Dance in the Park events in Spring next year.

Summer drop ins

Summer dance ages 4+

Our drop in classes at Buckland Reading Room were taught by Natalie and our newest teacher, Helen. There was a creative mix of street dance, acting and singing. Many of the children enjoyed singing to Frozen and The Lion King, along with learning a variety of dance routines in a short amount of time.

Petit Performers Summer dance 2-4

Our drop in classes for our Petit Performers children saw adventures ‘under the sea’ with teacher Ivy, as the children explored singing and dancing to music from The Little Mermaid. They also had fun moving to other familiar songs and using props, such as ribbons and maracas.

Summer Workshops

Week 1 saw our children explore the musical, The School of Rock, and that they did! We learnt a strong routine with Natalie, using different levels to express playing musical instruments and the energy seen in the film. Helen helped us use props to have a ‘play off’, where the children used improvisation, teamwork and movement to put on a fantastic show. And that isn’t all! Ivy taught the children a fun and energetic street dance routine and they even had the time to make their own guitars!

Week 2 was filled with ‘revolting children’ as we worked on material from Matilda the Musical. Natalie worked on using facial expressions and building characterisation, with the song Revolting Children. Helen then helped the children use their vocal skills to sing about what they wanted to be when they were older. Many of the children took the opportunity to come into the centre of the room and demonstrate to our parents their future goals, through using their fabulous acting skills. Finally Natalie taught a fun and fresh street dance routine to Rain on Me, where the students were able to express themselves through upbeat and energetic movement.

Do you struggle with what to do with your little ones during the school holidays? Live Love Perform always host a dance or theatre workshop in the school holidays so make sure you check out our upcoming workshops.
